Forged steel is widely used for automobile components. Its property of matter is represented as hard and tough surface and mild inner substrate. Similar to this, bearing steel is also hard and tough. These attributes cause repeated built-up edge, flaking and crater wear while conventional coated inserts are cutting these kinds of steel. This results in unstable tool life and decreased productivity. Nevertheless, mass production of automobile parts requires much longer tool life at higher speed and feed.
Our new CVD coated turning grades, NC3215 and NC3225 were designed for machining automobile components with hot-/cold forged steel and bearing steel.
On top of that, NC3225 is an universal grade recommended as the first priority for this kind of machining, while NC3215 is ideal for high speed and continuous cutting.
LP/MP chip breakers feature optimal blade design and special dots at corners, which leads to excellent chip control, extended tool life and high productivity at high speed(max. 350m/min) and high feed(max. 0.35mm/rev) in turning operation of a wide range of forged steel.
The combination of LP-MP chip breakers is the best solution for high efficiency and high productivity in machining automobile components, with superior wear resistance, anti chipping, and chip control.
