Korloy has released its new line-up "D Endmill" for Graphite.
Graphite which features high density and hardness is used as Discharge-Electrode materials because it consumes less electrodes.
However, when we process Graphite at a high speed, the friction between graphite molecules and the relief-surface is bound to accelerate the tool wear.
In addition, high hardness of Graphite causes the flaking of diamond coating, resulting in reduced tool life.
Therefore, when it comes to machining materials such as Graphite and Ceramics, the most important factor is wear-resistance of tool. In order to resolve above problems, Korloy has released new diamond coated endmill series with improved the wear resistance.
Our new diamond coated grade "ND3000" introduces sp3 structure which has high hardness and purity. This diamond coating does not only improve the wear-resistance against continuous frictions but also offers high resistance to the flaking since it holds the coating and the substrate tightly together.
Also, other than wear-resistance, there are other important factors such as tool edge-geometry and excellent surface roughness in machining Graphite. By applying one-pass grinding system to the nose R part of ball endmills, it prevents stepped cone on the machined surface and provides excellent surface roughness for ball area. Furthermore, precise grinding work is conducted to Flat type endmill in order to provide excellent surface roughness and precise size.
D Endmill maximizes the tool replacement-cycle by minimizing relief-surface wear, resulting in the significant cost-saving for our customers. In most cases, the thicker the diamond coating is, the more likely the flaking of cutting edges happens. However, our D Endmill series prevents this kind of flaking effectively with our technology so that it can enhance the customer"s satisfaction.
